Shroud researcher and author Brendan Whiting held Maria Valtorta in high esteem, including many references to her writings in his groundbreaking 2006 book "The Shroud Story". Brendan lost his long fight with Leukemia on January of 2009. Whiting's book introduced the world to the most powerful evidence that the 1988 Shroud c-14 data (dating the Shroud in the 14th Century) was invalid. At first, his book turned the Shroud community upside-down, now his contention has gained world-wide acceptance.
